The banking job offers pay package from rs.6000-8000 a month to high salary packages of rs.30000-35000 a month. The entire banking sector is divided into three categories:

1. Public Sector Banks
2. Private Sector Banks
3. Foreign/Multinational Banks

There are several opportunities of jobs in banking sector at various levels. The most basic level is the Clerical Jobs, with minimum qualification of 12th standard. They handle the general banking, account handling etc.

The next level is the Probationary Officers (PO), which assist managers in various activities. Candidates with any degree can apply for this job.

Then there are Specialist Officers, which are recruited from areas of specialized degrees like engineering, markets, logistics etc.

Agriculture Officers are recruited in Public Sector Banks to look after the loans being lent to farmers in rural areas and verify and assess their data and activities. Candidates with specialization in agriculture/horticulture and veterinary science are preferred.

The top most level is the Managerial Level which is filled through promotions or experience.

The banking sector conducts various exams for recruitments including the Clerical Exam, which have a written test and a personal interview and the PO exams, which have a written test in two stages- an objective test and a descriptive test, and then the group discussion and personal interview in the final round. Apart from these tests, basic English, aptitude, marketing skills, computer awareness and reasoning skills also play an important role in selection.

The information about the vacancies and openings is available over the internet. Apart from this various private sector banks also conduct their Individual examination whose information is available on the internet.
